Murray Rogers Supercharged Outlaw
Where It All Began
For Drive Creative founder Samantha Rogers, motorsport has always been more than a profession, it has been part of her life from the very beginning. Growing up in country Victoria, weekends were spent alongside her father, Murray Rogers, watching engines being built, race cars being restored and countless hours poured into the pursuit of drag racing. It was this environment that first sparked Samantha’s passion for the automotive industry and ultimately led her to a career designing vehicle graphics.
When Murray completed the rebuild of his Supercharged Outlaw dragster, Samantha knew the livery had to be as unique as the car itself. Beginning with a hand-drawn pencil sketch, she designed a custom serpent character inspired by the proportions and aggressive stance of the elongated dragster. The illustration was then meticulously recreated as a vector graphic and adapted to suit the bodywork before being layered over a chrome blue finish. The result was a completely one-of-a-kind design, created specifically for the car and impossible to find in a stock image library.
Powered by a 460 cubic-inch big block Chevrolet with an 8/71 supercharger and two-speed Powerglide transmission, the car competes in the Supercharged Outlaw category and regularly appears at events including the Supercharged Shootout at Sunset Strip, Mildura. The combination of traditional hot rod culture, family history and bespoke artwork made the project one of the most personally rewarding pieces Drive Creative has produced.
“Growing up in country Victoria, I learnt a lot from my dad. We didn’t have endless resources, so he approached everything with thought, patience and creativity. He never had the luxury of simply starting again if something didn’t work, so every decision mattered. Whether he was rebuilding an engine, restoring a car or taking on a project that would take years to complete, he taught me the value of careful planning, craftsmanship and making the most of what you have.
Creating this livery for dad was my way of saying thank you. I wanted to give him something thoughtful that he would love because no matter how proud he is of me, I’ve always been proud of him.”
